Many Instructors, Few Fathers
I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
What’s the difference between an instructor and a father? An instructor is an individual who simply teaches. The role of a father plays into a relational connection to a child. Over the years, the church has done a wonderful job with possessing great instructors! These instructors certainly aren’t just limited to the word of God, however, they extend themselves in various areas around the needs of the church. However, is this enough for our children? When we consider the many children who go without fathers, how does the church step in to fill the void? Even though there are limitations, there must be accountability on the church to provide a fatherly direction to those who go without.
We’re familiar with the term: “it takes a village.” This is a true statement! When we fail to set a passage for our children, they will remain ignorant on where to go when they’re of age. The fathers of the church must rise to the occasion and set an example for the children of the church. Not only is it important that our children feel the presence of a father, but to experience the humility and assurance of a father. A humble and assured father shows strength in the eyes of a child. For a father to be humble and assured, is to be submissive and faithful to God the Father!
